The Rip Tide
A truly great album to listen to while working. It’s a solid straight through. My favorite songs reside on the B side, starting with the title track and ending with “Port of Call.” The album wanders geographically from “Santa Fe” (Condon’s most pop-ish song to date) to “East Harlem,” and seems to settle into its places with exuberance, never driving full tilt with the beat. Once you’re submerged into the music though, the percussion and horns start to weave through and catch more on repeat listenings.
