Rocky Mountain Rye
This whiskey was great for kicking back with a fun project for a goofy coworker and listening to Interpol (I was feeling moody). It has a sweet breadish smell that masks a subtle spicy (cinnamon) flavor which carries into the first sip. I’ve never had a rye whiskey before, and I must say, if they’re even close to being as crisp and mean as this one, I’m in for some great drinks down the line. The sweet honey flavor lingers for a second, then is taken over by the cinnamon, and leaves a nice cool feeling in your mouth. It’s strong though, so it will lead to a lot of mistakes while cleaning ink off your press. Expect to see more of High West’s work show up here.
